Diary of a Tattoo

Weekend before last I got my first tattoo…
A barcode on the back of the neck

So, in the spirit of sharing. Here’s a photo essay of sorts 🙂

But, before I start

  1. No it didn’t hurt – Felt like a cross between a sharp scratch with, say, a pine needle, and when you get too close to a sparkler.
  2. I got a barcode because I wanted to
  3. Yes the numbers do mean something, bonus points if you can guess the significance.
  4. I dont know whether it will scan yet, I havent tried. Although its not UPC so it wouldnt scan on normal scanners anyway.

So now that 4 of the 5 standard questions have been answered (the first seems to be is it real?)

Diary of A Tattoo – A Story in Photos by Miriam Parkinson
Can you tell I’ve had too much caffeine today??

The Naked NeckFirst the design was transferred onto my neck.

The Printed Transfer

The process finally begins

The first touch of the needle

Halfway done… I’ll admit it hurt a little bit more on the nobbly bits… And when he went over the thicker lines to fill them out.

Halfway done

Immediately after it was finished… Kinda blurry because Colin took it with a camera phone and they dont really do close up.

Finished Product - Immediately after

It felt like a bad sunburn by now… And its all 3d like when you scratch yourself on something and get that raised red bit. Also excess ink is coming out.

Red and Sore. First Night

And the Final Product…

The finished Tattoo

VHS to dvd??

Does anyone know anywhere in melbourne that can copy old VHS videos onto dvd? I have a couple of old performance vids from year 12 that I don’t want to disintergrate into nothing and I dont even have a VCR.

Ah… I seem to have made an impression of sorts

judging by this post by Urbaer anyway:

I’m sure Cam will post the video, the conversation went from “What event in the 90’s instigated an increase in bi-sexaulity in females” to somewhere very far away from that… well probably not too far away from that. Did you know that Sydney private schools do plays that involve nurses pole dancing and simulated sex?

Me and my big mouth…. Oops 🙂

Also

And I also met Miriam who… probably did mean what she promised

Errm… What did I promise exactly?? I was pretty sure I made a point of not making any promises and just giving vague maybes…

For the record… I wasnt as drunk as I looked… no really 🙂 Just drunk enough to be me in front of a whole bunch of strangers.

I have an idea for a show… get a bunch of girls together, feed them alcohol and then ask them to confirm or deny various male rumours about girls.
It has the added bonus that there’s a reasonable chance of some girl on girl action happening every now and again.

Hmm maybe I should do some filming during my trip to sydney next week… could be interesting.

TPN Dinner (again, only less rambling)

Well last night I posted a rather intoxicated report on the TPN Dinner and I promised to post something else today… So…

I was really nervous when I arrived because meeting a large group of strangers scares me a little… As did Cam… Nah actually he’s not that much more crazy than me I’m just better at hiding the crazy when I first meet people. You have to lull them into a false sense of security first see 🙂

I pretty much don’t drink being that I’m too busy panicking over the work that I should have been doing when I was reorganising my pens and checking my email to go out most nights… That and the fact that I’m an impoverished student living with someone who isn’t accustomed to eating two minute noodles to pay for the alcohol supply.

Anyway

The upshot of this is that the sake Cam insisted we all drink hit me like a slice of lemon wrapped around a gold brick and I sort of turned into…. me… except without the crazy filter. So anyone who was there got to see the me my friends see… Hooray for you!

So the general consensus was that the evening was highly amusing and I will definitely be attending any future TPN events that I can…

And about that whole gimp mask vidcast thingy….. Maybe… If I’m in a really brave mood.
