An unexpectedly early departure

I’m leaving Melbourne for Sydney tomorrow afternoon. I was intending to leave on Monday however unfortunately my grandfather died yesterday and I need to leave earlier to attend the funeral.

My granddad was a great bloke. He worked for the health department and was part of the team that brought in medicare. He always supported my tomboyish side when I was a kid and took me on expeditions up cliffs when I was 7 (much to the horror of my mother). He also taught me carpentry and took me caving (one of his main hobbies). Unfortunately he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease when he was around 70 and was soon unable to follow his previous hobbies, but he always regaled us with entertaining stories about his childhood. He died peacefully at around 9.30am on Friday after two weeks of ill health.

I’m going to try to get some interesting footage while my girlfriends and I are about town and getting up to mischief and I’ll post anything of interest 🙂

I may not have regular access to the internet (my mother wont get adsl because its ‘too hard’) but I’ll try to blog as much as possible and I’ll post up any vids when I get back.

hey Miz, sorry to hear that mate, my sincere condolences. Sounds like he was a terrific bloke and I just hope reading your blog (or mine!) didn’t have anything to do with it.
