A whole lot of computer based excitement

admin | September 29, 2006

Colin upgraded my computer whilst I was away so now i have a 160gig hard drive and a one of these things (Intel Pentium 4 520, 2800MHz (14 x 200) ) and whilst I have no idea what that means NWN loads a whole lot faster now :-)

Also it has a sound card which actually supports microphones so I’ve managed to set up my headset – Clever me!

Anyways this doesn’t really make me any more likely to actually use my Skype account because, well, I don’t know anyone on Skype and I’m still somewhat afraid of talking to people I don’t know on the phone. But still, one step closer.

Errm. Oh yeah. Also, apparently I’m now a god. Hooray for me!
Actually, since there’s like 30 comments in there and you’ll probably get bored before the important one…

Miriam. You are my new personal God. I am building a temple to you. I’m still no clearer about what energy actually is, but your ability to answer every question with a seemingly solid answer is truly a gift to be admired.

So there you have it. A god. Who would have thought.

Look what I found

admin | September 27, 2006

Amazing the treasure you find when you search through all your old junk. I found my old view-master from when was a kid with a whole lot of reels including these classics.
I loved these when I was a kid

Yes I know the photos are crappy, I took them through the viewfinder of the damned thing.
Also, you don’t get to see them in all their 3d brilliance because the camera only has one eye.

admin | September 27, 2006
Ok here are some pics of my new hair and a frightening glimpse into my mind.

Just so you know noone said anything. That was just a random thought.

I’m home!!!

admin | September 27, 2006

Best thing is I just brought my old desktop down from Syd and instead of a Pentium III its a Pentium IV and it has twice as much memory on it too.

I can actually play those damned G’day World video editions!!

Plus after over a week of dialup you have no idea how much faster adsl feels.

Actually I’d better not say the best thing is that I have a new computer because that will upset Colin somewhat… My excuse is that I haven’t yet seen him… Then he’ll be the best thing :-)

Ohhh Dear!

admin | September 26, 2006

A friend I was out with last night is bedridden with an acute fever and virus-like symptoms and this morning I woke up with my entire torso feeling bruised… This does not bode well for me. I have virtually no immune system.

Wish me luck. I don’t want to come home to Colin all sick and feeling sorry for myself!

Low blood sugar makes me weird

admin | September 25, 2006

That last post was written under the influence of 2pm and no breakfast yet…
My brain was in a seriously weird space…
Anyways I’m going to take a nap, find the exploding whale video and then try to think of something interesting to talk about.

No Post Today

admin | September 25, 2006

My brain won’t let go of a topic for my next post but its important to me and I want to get it right so you’re all just going to have to wait for my mind to clear enough to allow me to represent my views with absolute accuracy :-)

I’m carrying around a notebook today so I’ll do my best to jot down everything I want to say and get something happening tonight.

If that doesnt work, I’m having lunch with Tors tomorrow and a chat with her never fails to get my mind in order so I promise that I will have something to say for myself tomorrow.

Podcast

admin | September 23, 2006

Been thinking about it some more and if I can think of something interesting to talk about I’ll do one…

But only if I’m convinced that I can make a proper show about it. I’m not interested in doing it if it only ends up being a couple of shows and then I run out of stuff to say.

And I guess another requirement is being able to figure out how to actually get it onto the internet. Video is actually a far easier medium on the net for some reason…

Doing a podcast/vidcast

admin | September 22, 2006

I never really considered this an option before mostly through a combination of what’s the point and ack! its a camera! sort of vibes, but that confounded Cameron Reilly, personally responsible (along with Richard Giles) for this atrocity of a blog you are currently reading, has got me thinking about the whole thing.

It is in some ways an interesting idea and I’m sure it would be a load of fun. I’d even most likely be able to get the hang of the whole camera thing and stop being self-conscious about the sound of my own voice on tape. But there is one major stumbling block. I don’t really have anything to say. I mean yeah I could pad out a couple of shows with discussions about bisexuality and the changing social views towards bdsm. But I don’t really think I’m capable of coming up with interesting content on a regular basis.

See, I’m one of those people who self-censor (yes I know everyone who was at the TPN dinner are currently rolling on the floor laughing at that). What I mean by this is that I censor my creative ideas. When I was a musician I would take ages to write a simple melody because I’d only get a bar in before I decided it was crap and deleted it, in english creative writing I would decide that every idea I had was bad.

Just unconvinced that I’m up to the challenge and being a perfectionist, I am hence reluctant to try.

Feeling a little more human

admin | September 22, 2006

I haven’t come home sober since Tuesday. Or been to bed before 2am for that matter either. Then my sister/her cat/mum wakes me up at 7 or 8 or even worse, like Wednesday night, I simply don’t sleep at all (except in 1 hour intervals) because of an overly rich french meal involving of all things pancreas and snails in a sort of garlicky stew and a cheese souffle as my starter and far too much red wine. Very nice but not exactly sleep supporting.

Anyways the point of all this whinging is that I got to sleep in this morning… Well sort of… minus interruptions from Nay with her panics over an ill-advised home hair-dye attempt.

So I feel relatively human :-)
